Comparison of the effects of Letrozole and Clomiphene Citrate towards endometrial thickness, amount and size of follicles for couples wishing to get

had been done which supports the use of letrozole as an individual induction medicine or used in combination with exogenic FSH, and because of is advantages many researchers predict that it will be the drug of choice for the treatment of anovulation infertility.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to find the differences in effects and advantages between letrozole and clomiphene citrate for couples wishing to get pregnant.
Method: Double blind randomized design. All woman attending the fertility policlinics at
Sampling were done consecutively by simple randomization. Observation of endometrial thickness were done at the end of the proliferation phase and follicle development on day twelve.
Result: There were significant differences in the mean preovulation follicles between the two groups ( clomiphene ; 2,08±0,669, letrozole ; 1,50±0,52 ). There were also significant differences in the mean preovulation diameter of the follicles between he two groups ( clomiphene ; 19,56±4,23mm, letrozole ; 22,43±2,09mm ). Endometrium were thicker in the letrozole group (letrozole; 9,70±1,87mm; clomiphene citrate ; 9,14±2,24mm) but statistically there were no significant differences.
Conclusion: There were statistical differences between the use of letrozole and clomiphene citrate in the amount and size of the follicles, but not in the thickness of the endometrium.
